Soumis depuis des décennies à la torture du Championnat du monde des rallyes de la FIA, le moteur BOXER SUBARU turbo primé, de 2,5 litres à DACT bénéficie d’une disposition à plat des cylindres, qui élimine naturellement les vibrations et crée un équilibre supérieur. Les WRX et WRX STI peuvent en plus compter sur un refroidisseur d’air à haut débit d’une extrême efficacité, deux versions distinctes du système de contrôle actif des soupapes, et un système d’échappement à obstruction plus faible pour produire un vaste couple à bas et à moyen régime, des accélérations époustouflantes et un rendement énergétique tout à fait étonnant.
