Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. See the owner’s manual or NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide for details.

Head-turning 2016 Subaru BRZ Hits the Streets
8 June, 2015

  • Subaru BRZ focuses on low centre of gravity, light weight and precision handling.

  • High-performance 200-horsepower SUBARU BOXER engine.

(MISSISSAUGA) — Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced the release of the 2016 Subaru BRZ, available mid-June in Subaru dealerships across Canada. The rear-wheel-drive BRZ is an authentic sports coupe that carves its own path with its light vehicle weight, ultra-low centre of gravity and precision steering, delivering pinpoint handling accuracy and an unmatched level of driving pleasure for sports car enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Utilizing Subaru’s naturally aspirated 200-horsepower horizontally opposed SUBARU BOXER engine design, the BRZ is a true sports car that does not sacrifice everyday comfort, practicality or efficiency: the BRZ is capable of achieving up to 7.0 litres per hundred kilometres highway fuel economy (with 6-speed automatic transmission). Fundamental to its true sports car character, the BRZ's 2.0-litre engine combines low weight with high strength, high compression and high-revving responsiveness. The engine delivers 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 6,400 - 6,600 rpm, with a high specific output of 100 hp/litre. The BRZ's SUBARU BOXER engine fuel injection system uniquely combines direct injection and port injection technology. A direct-type fuel-injection system, which sprays fuel directly into the combustion chambers rather than upstream into the ports, provides a cooling effect in the cylinders. This enables use of a very high 12.5:1 compression ratio to extract maximum energy from the fuel. In light- and medium-load conditions, the port fuel injectors help produce precise combustion, increasing performance and efficiency.

Driving enthusiasts can choose between a six-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic transmission in the 2016 Subaru BRZ and BRZ Sport-tech Package. Both transmissions have been engineered and tuned to maximize performance and sporty driving feel.

For the 2016 model year, BRZ pricing is as follows:

« Like all Subaru models, the 2016 Subaru BRZ has achieved an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2015 Top Safety Pick. This 2+2 sports coupe has also earned an ALG (formerly Automotive Lease Guide) 2015 Residual Value Award for highest overall predicted resale value for the third year in a row.
