Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. 12th Annual HyperMeeting at Subaru Canada raises over $40,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto
27 August, 2015

  • Subaru Canada, Inc. matched all proceeds and donations from the Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) annual event at the corporate head office for a grand total of $40,000.

  • Over 800 Subaru vehicles and well over 1,000 people met at the 12th Annual HyperMeeting to celebrate their shared passion of Subaru ownership.

(MISSISSAUGA) — Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is excited to announce that the 12th Annual HyperMeeting organized in conjunction with Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) was able to raise a combined total of $40,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto (RMHC Toronto). Held on Sunday, August 23, at SCI’s head office in Mississauga, ON, over 800 vehicles and their owners, friends and family ventured to meet and share their pride of Subaru ownership. Each year, the annual HyperMeeting raises funds for RMHC Toronto, as it is SCI and TSC’s charity of choice. This year a total of $20,000 was raised for RMHC Toronto by TSC, an amount matched dollar-for-dollar by SCI for a grand total of $40,000.

As one of the largest type of enthusiast shows held at a corporate head office in Canada, the HyperMeeting began with a fervent convoy of Subaru vehicles, representing an array of models, years and accessories, lining the streets leading to the office. The annual family-friendly event offered an on-site barbecue, photo booth and various attractions that would appeal to the younger generation of Subaru lovers. With a vehicle covered in chalk paint to be fully decorated, r/c cars, superhero characters, face painting, a balloon artist and magician, this year’s event ensured the children in attendance also had a great time. For the third year in a row, AutoGuide road test editor, Mike Schlee, and Derek Serianni of the Toronto Subaru Club acted as master of ceremonies.

“It is a phenomenal sight to see so many enthusiastic Subaru owners arriving at this annual event and willing to give back to their local community,” said Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. “Toronto Subaru Club’s fundraising efforts continue to mirror our corporate charitable sentiments and we could not be more thrilled to donate $40,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities after this event.”

“This year’s HyperMeeting was amazing, not only did we achieve our fundraising goal by surpassing last year’s total of $36,000, but it brought even more people together that are passionate about the Subaru brand,” said Derek Serianni, administrator of the Toronto Subaru Club. “As Subaru continues to grow its presence in the Canadian marketplace so does our club and our ability to hold events like the HyperMeeting where we can pool our enthusiasm together to raise a large sum of money to donate to a worthy cause like Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.”

Subaru Canada selected RMHC Toronto as their charity of choice in 2000 and since then SCI has donated a grand total of over $630,000 cumulatively with the 2015 HyperMeeting donation included.

RMHC Toronto provides a “home away from home” for seriously ill children and their families. RMHC is a place for families to heal better together, both in the 81-family capacity House in downtown Toronto and through their Family Rooms that provide families with a medical-free space within a hospital to rest and retreat. Since 1981, the House has been host to thousands of families in need of a comfortable atmosphere of compassion and understanding during a frightening and stressful time in their lives. Support from SCI will help RMHC Toronto provide families of seriously ill children with a safe and comfortable place to stay that is just steps from the hospital where their child is undergoing life-saving medical treatment.

As the single largest enthusiast club of its kind with nearly 11,000 members, the Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) is a group of Subaru enthusiasts from Toronto and its surrounding areas. This community-oriented club hosts many events and meets as a way to socialize and mingle. Many of its events benefit its dedicated charity of choice, RMHC Toronto.
