Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. See the owner’s manual or NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide for details.

Superior engineering builds confidence from the core

The 2023 Subaru Impreza is a key example of the benefits of legendary Subaru engineering. Built on a platform that’s designed for increased strength and safety, the Impreza also shines a spotlight on the Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system, the SUBARU BOXER® engine and an independent suspension system developed over decades of motorsport competition. Subaru core technology is the reason why this compact car delivers superb handling, dynamic all-road/all-weather capability and a level of confidence behind the wheel that is simply unmatched in its class.

The spirited SUBARU BOXER® engine

The 2.0L naturally aspirated SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder delivers crisp response, natural balance, recognized reliability and stellar fuel-efficiency. The free-breathing intake and free-flowing exhaust improve overall performance, while the Dual Active Valve Control System and direct injection system create dynamic low-end response. This engine comes standard with Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) equipment, which reduces smog-forming emissions to near zero without compromising performance. Versions equipped with the Lineartronic® CVT feature the SI-DRIVE® engine management system with its two modes—the eco-friendly Intelligent (I) mode and the more spirited Sports (S) mode.

2023 Subaru Impreza Transmissions + Symmetrical AWD

Transmissions + Symmetrical AWD

The Subaru Impreza offers the choice of either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), each designed to perform with different versions of the legendary Subaru symmetrical full-time AWD system to create optimum response to the full range of driving conditions.

5-speed Manual Transmission (5MT)

The 5-speed manual transmission is linked to a viscous-coupling limited-slip centre differential that delivers near neutral handling and maximum control for the driver. The feeling of the transmission itself is crisp, intuitive and direct, making this choice ideal for those seeking sporty satisfaction from their time behind the wheel.

2023 Subaru Impreza 5-speed Manual Transmission (5MT))
2023 Subaru Impreza Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)

This transmission utilises a multi-plate transfer clutch AWD system that offers predictable handling and automatically shifts torque to the back wheels to balance power distribution under hard acceleration or in low-traction conditions. The lightweight CVT offers a wide range of ratios, Auto Stepped Speed Control that mimics traditional gearshifts and a 7-speed manual mode. With paddle shifters available on certain models, the Lineartronic® CVT provides a seamless shift feel, is highly responsive at all engine speeds and helps make the Impreza one of the most fuel-efficient AWD vehicle in its class for North America**.

Rock-solid, super-sporty chassis

The 2023 Subaru Impreza is constructed on a lightweight, ultra-rigid chassis that brings a strong, secure feeling and sets the stage for superior agility. The long-travel fully independent suspension system and wide track provides this sporty compact fun-to-drive handling, a smooth ride over the rough stuff and a clear edge over the competition.

Subaru Global Platform

This generation of Impreza was the first Subaru vehicle to ride on the new Subaru Global Platform. This design brings dramatic increases to body rigidity with the use of more high-tensile materials. Other advantages of this advanced platform include reduced twisting forces on the frame and body through the suspension system. This results in a much smoother and comfortable ride, highly responsive and precise steering, excellent straight-line stability, and low levels of noise and vibration.

2023 Subaru Impreza Front Suspension

Front Suspension

The MacPherson® front strut-type suspension system uses stabilizer bars for greater stability, direct response and improved driver feedback. This design utilises a racing-derived, K-shaped cross-member brace to lessen lateral forces and vibration. When combined with a very wide track, this suspension system provides the Impreza with crisp steering, remarkable handling and a remarkably composed ride. Fine-tuned over decades of punishing competition on the World Rally circuit, this suspension system is an absolute strength of the Subaru technical package.

2023 Subaru Impreza Front Suspension

Rear Suspension

The double-wishbone rear suspension system is engineered to reduce noise and vibration, while improving control and stability. This system utilises an available rear stabilizer bar for a smoother ride and a truly stable feeling. The rear stabilizer bar is mounted directly to the body to reduce body roll by half. The rear bushings and shock absorbers are fine-tuned to minimize harshness, creating a comfortable ride that manages to absorb bumps easily, yet still give the Impreza a really sporty edge. This suspension system is also designed to avoid encroaching into the cargo area, preserving storage space.
