The world-famous SUBARU BOXER engine

The 2015 Subaru WRX is powered by an all-new, twin-scroll, direct injection, turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine that boasts improved acceleration, efficiency and emissions. Meanwhile, the new WRX STI features the high-performance, turbocharged, 2.5L 4-cylinder of similar design, which has been returned for even better throttle response.

SI-DRIVE (Subaru Intelligent Drive)

SI-DRIVE is an advanced engine management system that lets the driver alter the characteristics of the car to suit personal tastes and desires. Featured on the Subaru WRX STI and the WRX with the Sport Lineartronic^™ transmission, the system features three distinct settings ranging from maximum efficiency to maximum attack.

6-speed manual transmission (6MT) + AWD

Linked to a viscous-coupling centre differential that secures even power distribution for maximum traction and sport handling, the all-new AWD 6MT in the Subaru WRX is lighter, boosts fuel efficiency, and creates a more direct and controlled connection between driver and car. In the WRX STI, the AWD 6MT is connected to the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) and is more robust to handle the increased power and torque. The DCCD enables the driver to customize the power distribution between the front and rear wheels to better match conditions and preference.

Sport Lineartronic^™ transmission + AWD

Paired with SI-DRIVE, fitted with paddle shifters and boasting two different manual modes, the highly-responsive Sport Lineartronic^™ available on the new WRX is a quick-shifting transmission linked to an AWD system that sends more power to the rear wheels for sportier handling.* Fuel economy numbers are measured in the Sport Mode (S) of the SI-DRIVE engine management system. Increased fuel economy can be achieved with Intelligent Mode (I) activated.

Lighter, stronger, more connected chassis

The chassis of both models has been improved to allow all the power from the SUBARU BOXER engines and all the traction available from Subaru symmetrical full-time AWD to be fully realized. The stronger, lighter chassis also sets the stage for a revised high-performance suspension system and enhanced quick-ratio steering that create crisper, more connected handling and unrivalled levels of control.

Multi-mode VDC with Active Torque Vectoring

The WRX and WRX STI both feature Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control with three different driver-selectable settings for the stability control and traction control. Active Torque Vectoring has also been introduced to create more engaging steering response, sharper overall cornering capabilities and the facility to drive these cars closer to the limit.

Bold, brawny and beautiful

Sleeker and more refined yet decidedly aggressive, the totally redesigned 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI ooze pure performance from every possible angle. The wide, low stance speaks to impressive cornering, the aerodynamic touches hint at increased stability and the fierce look cues the desire.

High-performance wheels and tires

For the Subaru WRX, Dunlop sport tires ride on lightweight, dark gunmetal, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels for improved handling performance. The WRX STI has two options, both bearing Dunlop summer performance tires. The 18-inch Enkei dark gunmetal cast aluminum alloys are reserved for the base and Sport models, while the Sport-tech receives 18-inch BBS high-lustre black forged aluminum alloy wheels.

Hawk-eye, high-visibility headlights

New projector beams and parabolic reflectors deliver optimal light direction and increased visibility overall. The inner lens allows the low and high beams to share the same unique Subaru motif. The WRX and WRX STI Sport and Sport-tech models all feature upgraded LED headlights.

Functional hood scoop

To create smoother airflow into the turbocharger intercooler, the hood and inner ducting of both the WRX and WRX STI have been redesigned and the functional scoop has been placed lower in the hood itself.

Rear spoiler

The WRX Sport and Sport-tech offer improved aerodynamic performance via many enhancements, including a smaller, low-profile rear spoiler that also reduces vehicle weight overall. The WRX STI Sport and Sport-tech continue this theme, but feature instead a massive rear spoiler for increased downforce.

Side cooling vents

The wheel arches incorporate cooling vents and ducts that manage airflow around the wheels, drawing heat away from the engine — and making the WRX and WRX STI look decidedly mean at the same time.

Side sill spoilers

Integrated into the front and rear wheel arches, the side sill spoilers on the WRX and WRX STI boast a sporty look. They also prevent rocks and mud from chipping or tarnishing the surface of the paint.

LED taillights

The new LED taillights are sculpted to accentuate the wide fenders and improve aerodynamics on both models.

Rear diffuser and quad exhaust

The rear diffuser is integrated into the rear bumper to create a sporty look that emphasizes the low centre of gravity. The stainless steel-tipped quad exhaust provides the exclamation point as the WRX and WRX STI vanish into the distance.

Purpose-built for performance

The all-new Subaru WRX features a driver-focused environment loaded with convenience and entertainment features that also make it practical and comfortable. A longer wheelbase has led to more shoulder-, elbow- and rear-legroom. The cabin also features a jet-black interior with silver accents, WRX-embroidered mats and seatbacks, and performance-designed sport seats, in either premium cloth or leather, with red stitching.

Locked, loaded

The interior of the Subaru WRX STI is as single-minded as they come. A black colour scheme. Red stitching around the instrument panel and door panels. STI embroidering on the seatbacks and floor mats. Full leather seating surfaces for the Sport-tech models, Alcantara® inserts for the base and Sport. Seats reinforced with red leather bolsters. This is the start of something special.

Multi-function LCD display

This 4.3-inch LCD display shows information such as the trip odometer/fuel economy readout, a boost pressure gauge, and VDC sensor readings, to name but a few. When in reverse, the image from the rearview camera also appears on this screen.

Sport-design electroluminescent gauges

The refined instrument panel features electroluminescent gauges bracketing a 3.5-inch full-colour LCD information display that shows a variety of performance, economy and safety indicators. The numbers on the gauges are illuminated in red, providing a sporty contrast to the white needles.

Advanced multimedia system

This multimedia powerhouse features a 6.1-inch, high-resolution touchscreen to operate the audio system and GPS navigation, and includes XM® NAVTraffic, Aha® Radio and Bluetooth® connectivity. This system comes standard on the WRX and WRX STI Sport-tech. They also gain a 440-watt, Harman Kardon® 9-speaker sound system.

Versatile cabin and cargo area

With more interior space, wider rear door openings a flat trunk floor and 60/40-split flat-folding rear seats, the WRX and WRX STI bring everyday utility and versatility to the performance car segment.
