Confidence comes standard
From the very start, Subaru has focused on engineering vehicles that offer superior levels of safety and security through the use of the most advanced safety systems available. This dedication has led to vehicles such as the Subaru BRZ — yet another IIHS Top Safety Pick* for Subaru — a car that strikes the perfect balance between performance and safety, generating confidence on every type of road, under all possible conditions and at all times.
Always on alert
Superb agility, superior visibility, powerful braking and class-leading driver support systems: These are the elements that comprise the active safety solution for the Subaru BRZ and provide the tools needed to avoid an accident at all cost.
Multi-mode Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control System (TCS)
Standard on all models, the Vehicle Stability Control system employs an array of sensors to monitor steering input, braking input and yaw angle at all times and offers no fewer than five different driver-selectable modes, including Sport Mode and a TSC-off switch. This range of choice allows you to tailor the level of control to suit the conditions and to support your desire to push the car to its limits.
The ABS incorporates the latest thinking on brake performance and delivers class-leading levels of control and safety. Electronic Brake-force Distribution automatically adjusts brake pressure front-to-back according to vehicle loads. Brake Assist delivers added brake pressure in panic-stop situations. Brake Override cuts engine power when the brakes and the throttle are applied simultaneously. And large ventilated discs on all four corners provide superior stopping power in all conditions.
Engineered to protect
In the event that an accident is unavoidable, the Subaru BRZ is equipped with a comprehensive range of passive safety features to help ensure the protection of all occupants. For example, new high-strength front seats that better protect against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision.
The pursuit of high degrees of safety and sports driving performance has led to the next generation of this class-leading design that links together the roof, door beams, side pillars and floor. More robust than ever, the design now incorporates 53% high-tensile strength steel for superior crashworthiness without adding unnecessary weight and creates a 360-degree barrier of protection by diverting impact energy away from the cabin.
A full complement of airbags represents one of the first stages of defense in the event of a collision. The Subaru BRZ features dual-stage deployment front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags and side-curtain airbags for front and rear passengers.
