Engineering

Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary with driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition and road condition. In non-ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. See owner’s manual for details.

Power, control and stability—engineered in unison

The all-new Trailseeker takes Subaru capability into the electric era without compromising on the fundamentals: balanced handling, predictable control and real-world usability. The reinforced e-Subaru Global Platform adds rigidity and helps lower the centre of gravity for stable, composed driving. Dual compact e-Axles deliver smooth response and confident traction through Symmetrical Full-Time AWD. With SUV-ready ground clearance and carefully tuned steering and suspension, the Trailseeker is engineered to feel secure on highways, comfortable in town and ready when the road gets rough.

Subaru Electric Powertrain

The groundbreaking Subaru electric powertrain incorporates two compact e-Axles—one front, one rear—to deliver seamless electric performance. Each unit integrates the motor, transaxle and inverter to reduce complexity and improve response. Combined output supports strong acceleration and confident passing power, while AWD torque distribution helps maintain grip as conditions change. The battery is mounted low to support balanced handling, while selectable drive modes and regenerative braking paddles allow drivers to tailor response for efficiency, smoothness or stronger deceleration control.

Cold Weather Performance

The Trailseeker includes tools to help manage winter reality and cold temperatures’ effect on range and charging. Battery preconditioning warms the pack before DC fast charging to support stronger charging performance in low temperatures. Pre-conditioning the cabin while still plugged in reduces energy draw when you start driving. Efficient heated seats and heated steering wheel provide targeted comfort in cold conditions, reducing reliance on full cabin heating. The net result is winter-ready EV driving that feels more predictable and gives you more control.

Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD

The all-electric Symmetrical Full-Time AWD is engineered for balanced traction and stable control in every season. With an electric motor at each axle, torque can be managed front to rear instantly, and distribution can adjust as grip changes. Predictive control software helps anticipate slip and manage power smoothly, supporting confident progress on rain-slick pavement, loose gravel and snow-covered roads, exactly the conditions Canadian drivers face most.

Dual-function X-MODE® with Grip Control

Standard dual-function X-MODE® adds confidence when surfaces get unpredictable. Choose the Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud settings and the system adjusts torque delivery, throttle response and braking control to help maintain traction. Also standard, Grip Control supports low-speed travel by managing torque and braking automatically, helping keep a steady pace on slippery ramps, rutted trails or snow-packed driveways so the driver can focus on steering and vehicle placement.

Downhill Assist Control

Downhill Assist Control works with X-MODE® to help maintain a controlled speed on steep descents. By managing braking and wheel slip automatically, it supports stability when traction is limited, such as wet boat launches, icy driveways or loose gravel hills. The benefit is simple: smoother, more predictable descents with less driver stress, so you can focus on steering and choosing the right line.

Chassis engineering for outright performance

The unique chassis is engineered to perfectly balance comfort with control. A rigid structure supports quietness and stability, while optimized suspension geometry and a wide track help the vehicle feel planted through corners and composed at highway speeds. Electric-assist power steering is tuned for natural feedback, not artificial weight. The authentic SUV level of ground clearance and careful damping help create confidence on rough pavement and uneven roads without sacrificing ride comfort.

e-Subaru Global Platform

The e-Subaru Global Platform is designed for electric vehicles, engineered to support safety, stability and long-term refinement. Extensive use of high-tensile steel, reinforced crossmembers and clearly defined load paths helps manage crash energy while protecting both occupants and the battery pack. The battery’s low, centralized mounting position lowers the centre of gravity, improving balance, braking stability and steering response. Superior torsional rigidity enhances suspension performance and ride control, while advanced sealing, insulation and structural damping reduce noise and vibration. The result is a solid, composed driving foundation—Subaru engineering fundamentals, rethought for an electric powertrain.

Front Suspension

The MacPherson®-type strut front suspension is tuned for precise response without harshness. Features such as the coil springs and stabilizer bar help control body movement side-to-side when cornering and during emergency manoeuvres. The system is also calibrated to reduce noise, vibration and harshness, contributing to a smoother ride on broken pavement. Combined with the wide stance, the front suspension supports confident steering response in daily driving and on longer highway runs.

Rear Suspension

A double-wishbone rear suspension helps the Trailseeker maintain stability and ride comfort across varying surfaces. The design supports controlled wheel movement through bumps and uneven pavement, helping improve composure and reduce harsh impacts into the cabin. Coil springs and a stabilizer bar help manage body roll when cornering or carrying cargo, while careful tuning aims to reduce vibration and road noise. The result is a balanced, predictable feel—comfortable over long distances and confident when the going gets tough.
