Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. Subaru Sets New Annual Sales Record With Over 50,000 Units Retailed to Cap Year of Exceptional Growth
5 January, 2017

  • Fifth consecutive annual sales record set, with 50,190 units sold in 2016

  • Year-to-date sales, up 7.7 percent, and best-ever December contribute to the new annual record

(MISSISSAUGA) — Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is thrilled to announce a fifth consecutive annual sales record, vaulting past last year’s record sales of 46,609 to top   50,000 units for the first time.  As the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve, sales rose to new heights, capping a banner year with an astounding 50,190 units sold in 2016.

With impressive numbers all year long, December followed suit with successful sales of 3,704 units, up 9.8% over last year.

December proved to be the most wonderful time of the year for several Subaru models, whose fantastic performance helped push sales over the top.  As the AJAC winner for Best New Small Utility Vehicle, Forester continued to light the way, up 12.7 percent with 1,202 units retailed in December, and 13,798 units year to date.   Crosstrek also posted strong results, up 12.4% with sales of 673 units (9,723 year to date) and Outback sales jumped a remarkable 16.5 percent with 869 units making their way to happy customers (11,255 year to date).  Performance enthusiasts looking to take advantage of the snowy weather helped a record number of WRX STI vehicles fly out of dealerships, for an incredible increase of 52.7 percent.

“Once again Subaru Canada has exceeded expectations to set a fifth consecutive annual sales record,” says Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc.  “These sales records are a direct result of the quality vehicles, parts and accessories as well as the excellent service we continue to provide our customers.  We look forward to setting new benchmarks for 2017.”
