Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition and other factors. In sub ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use which will further reduce range. See the owner’s manual or NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide for details.

Subaru Canada: Hot Start to New Year with Record Sales in January
2 February, 2018

  • Best January ever for automaker, with sales up 14.8 per cent compared to same month last year.

  • Crosstrek sales up 161.9 per cent for its best January on record.

  • Sales up in all regions across Canada, with Atlantic sales up 18.3 per cent.

(MISSISSAUGA, ONT.)—It may be cold outside but the hot streak continued for Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) in January, with the automaker setting yet another monthly sales record to start the year.

Fresh off a record-setting year that saw 54,570 units sold in 2017, its sixth consecutive annual sales record, SCI sold 3,221 vehicles last month — its best January on record. That represents a 14.8 per cent increase over the same month last year, putting SCI on a strong footing to start 2018.

“We couldn’t ask for a better start to 2018,” said Yasushi Enami, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. “Our award-winning lineup, including six IIHS Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ winners, along with our strong dealer network, is helping put more Canadians behind the wheel of our vehicles — and keeping them there.”

Leading the charge yet again for the automaker was the all-new 2018 Crosstrek, which posted its best January ever with 1,053 units retailed — an impressive 161.9 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Not to be outdone, the 2018 WRX and WRX STI saw sales increase 14.1 per cent compared to the previous January.

The all-new 2018 Crosstrek

Regionally, sales were up across the country, with all regions posting improvements compared to January 2017. The Atlantic region led the way, posting an 18.3 per cent sales increase compared to the same month last year, followed by Ontario and Quebec, with increases of 16.7 per cent and 16.5 per cent, respectively. The Western region was also up an impressive 9.8 per cent year-over-year.

The hot start to the year continues the torrid sales pace for the Subaru brand in Canada, which posted its sixth consecutive annual sales record in 2017 with 54,570 vehicles sold.
