Manager, Advertising
The Manager, Advertising will co-manage (with other Managers, Advertising) the development of strategic, national advertising campaigns to promote brand awareness and consideration for Subaru models. In conjunction with other Managers, the incumbent will evaluate, plan, and execute the most effective ways of communicating our brand and products to new and existing customers. This position will also work closely with our Dealer Advertising Associations (DAAs) and collaborate with North American Sales Marketing team. Department objectives, proposals and activities will be presented on an ongoing basis to Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) Executives through effective communications & supported research. The incumbent will report to the Director, Marketing &
Brand Management and will be based out of Subaru Canada’s head office in Mississauga, ON.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
National Campaign Creative
- Lead the creative development of effective national advertising campaigns and new vehicle launches, by establishing key target markets, strategic goals and campaign budget allocations as well as providing agency with brand direction, relevant content, and information as required. This will ensure that creative strategies and messages conveyed are aligned with Subaru’s overall strategic direction.
- Hands on daily management and approvals of key initiatives in all areas of advertising including dealership support materials, TV, print, outdoor, display, social, email campaigns & other online activities.
National Media
- Manage the advertising department’s media planning and strategic targeting of all national media efforts.
- Manage ongoing media issues and direction of all assigned media agencies.
- Track media placements to ensure accuracy; make changes as required while supporting and monitoring budget against all SCI national media expenditures.
National Advertising Planning
- Responsible for overseeing the department’s research requirements for new models and overall brand health metrics. The manager works closely with the Brand Research Vendor and/or new vendors as required.
- Develop/manage departmental research needs, as required, to assist with development of product launch strategies.
- Provide input into the development of the Advertising Departments’ business plan, marketing strategy and budget.
- Assist with the Advertising department budget, as per SCI’s approved spending objectives - specifically managing project budgets, signing off on estimates & invoicing, and quarterly forecasting
National Advertising Events
- Support the department’s involvement and communication in dealer, regional and national sales meetings and National sponsorship events as required. Administration & Communication
- Manage various administrative requirements on a day-to-day basis with the support Specialist, Advertising including but not limited to monthly billing, deployment of internal and dealer bulletins.
- Manage field vendor proposals and dealer requests for advertising materials, inquiries, consultation.
- Support Director in communicating Advertising Dept. activities to various levels of the business.
Project Management
- Manage the overall direction, development, and execution of SCI marketing materials.
- Oversee Collateral and Point of Sale materials to be used in Dealership showrooms.
- Support facilitation of showroom brochures, Autoshow marketing materials.
- Support the direction of Subaru’s Six Star customer magazine and provide relevant content as required.
- Provide direction and support to ensure campaign integration on subaru.ca/SCI micro-site as deemed necessary.
- Provide brand content recommendations to Digital department for Subaru websites and social media applications.
- Manage the development & delivery of print advertisements (supporting sponsorships or corporate tactical placements).
- Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
- University degree in Business or Marketing (with focus on communications, and/or advertising) with 5-7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience working in a managerial role would be an asset.
- Experience working with or in an Advertising Agency environment would be an asset.
- Solid knowledge of best practices and progressive experience leveraging YouTube, Meta (Previously Facebook), Instagram, and X (Previously Twitter) as key marketing channels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience using survey analysis software would be an asset.
- Automotive marketing experience would be an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French would be an asset.
Physical Conditions:
- Flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Occasional weekend work and travel as required.
- Sitting & using a computer for extended periods.
